Research publication on international criminal law

Vienna, 9 May 2003//18174c-is

The I.P.O. research project "International Criminal Justice -- Law versus Politics" has been completed with the going to print of a comprehensive publication by the project coordinator, Professor Hans Koechler. The project was initiated in July 2001 in connection with the International Progress Organization's observer mission at the Scottish Court in the Netherlands ("Lockerbie Court") and as follow-up to the organization's Memorandum on the Yugoslavia Tribunal (1999).

The publication contains a comprehensive evaluation of the methods and practices of universal jurisdiction; an analysis of the doctrine of humanitarian intervention; a special chapter on international terrorism and the rule of law; and a list of relevant legal instruments and international conventions.

The book is being published in commemoration of the thirtieth anniversary of the foundation of the International Progress Organization. It will be available in the third quarter of 2003 and may be ordered via Springer, Vienna-New York, www.springer.at.
