PRESS CALL – UN Monitor Dr Hans Koechler in Skye for Talks next week.

The President of the International Progress Organization, Dr Hans Koechler, will be arriving in Scotland for the first time on Thursday 11th September.   Appointed by the United Nations to monitor the Lockerbie trial and appeals, Dr Koechler has been severely critical of the judicial process, as managed at Kamp Zeist in the Netherlands, which resulted in the conviction of one person accused of conspiring to commit murder but the other being found ‘not guilty’.

With the Crown conspiracy theory as to the cause of the explosion in tatters, Robbie the Pict has invited Dr Koechler to spend a few days walking on Skye followed by talks with Prof. Robert Black QC under the title ‘Quid Nunc, Scotia?’  Prof. Black had played a role in engineering the Kamp Zeist arrangements with Libya but has since been dismayed at what actually transpired.

Since these trials and appeals have been held using the good name of the people of Scotland, and funded by the Scottish tax-payers, Robbie has asked these two principal figures to consider the following questions and try to address the problem of ‘What now, Scotland?’

Session 1:  Did the Foreign and Commonwealth Office arrangements for a trial at Kamp Zeist deliver an independent and impartial tribunal?

Session 2:  What should happen now?

Session 3:  If Scotland was charged with managing such an international event in the future, what model is recommended?

Session 4:  What changes should be considered for the better administration of justice in Scotland?

[All of the above with full regard to the Rule of Law.]

Editors’ Note:  Dr Koechler will arrive in Inverness Airport on Thursday at 1640hrs.  The talks will take place in private at Greshornish House on Skye on Monday 15th.  On the 16th, a joint communiqué will be issued at a Press Conference at Greshornish at 10.30 am. Questions will be taken for 1 hour.  Dr Koechler will then travel to Edinburgh and Glasgow for further meetings.

The Lockerbie Justice Group is a private grouping of concerned public.  Following an invitation by Dr Jim Swire to investigate the affair, it was founded by John Parkes and Robbie the Pict in December 2006 in an attempt to determine the cause of the explosion of PanAm 103 and thus to bring justice to all.  The cost of these talks has been shared equitably by the IPO and LJG.  RtP.

Thank you for your interest in this international event being staged in the Inner Hebrides!
